We have much to be thankful for this year. God has blessed us with the privilege of living in a land that we love and have come to call home. He’s given us supportive family, the best of friends, and a wonderful church that serves to grow and challenge us. And this year He’s blessed us with the gift of a little one, who we are very anxious to meet next April.
As we gathered we friends this past Sunday for our annual Thanksgiving celebration, our hearts were indeed filled with thanks to God for His faithfulness, provision, grace, and unconditional love. You can see from the picture below just how blessed we are! Many, many friends representing 7 different countries- a little taste of heaven on earth!
Greetings from Taipei, where today the temperature is still a comfortable 77F. The past month was nothing short of busy as we moved apartments, stayed active in various ministry roles, and explored some new doors God has been opening. God has opened up a door for Kelley to teach a new class at the shelter for teen girls, of which the first two weeks have gone very well. Erich has begun meeting weekly with like-minded brothers to pray specifically for God’s leading in the area of church planting. He’s also spent time at a daughter church of Truth learning more about church planting possibilities there.
How can you being praying for us?
Our Bilingual ALPHA course has two weeks left this season. Kelley is the speaker this week and will be sharing on the topic, “What is the Church?” Please pray for insight and wisdom as she speaks, and for open hearts to hear.
Pray for us to have clear direction as opportunities for church planting in a working class area arise. Pray for dedicated co-workers to join us in this vision.
Pray for the Thanksgiving celebrations we will have (at the shelters and at church) to be a time where non-Christians feel welcomed. Pray we can use this opportunity to share God’s love with them.
Let’s praise the Lord together!
Praise the Lord Kelley and baby are doing well! The nausea has been gone for a few weeks now (big praise!) and the little one is healthily growing.
Praise the Lord for our new apartment. We’re enjoying our local neighborhood and interactions with neighbors. Pray we will be a light to the people around us. We wanted to include our new mailing address:

In this season of Thanksgiving, it goes without saying that we are truly thankful for each and every one of you. Your prayers, interest, and support are deeply appreciated. May you and your family be blessed this season.
For the Glory of God, Erich and Kelley Schindler
P.S. – We’ve attached two pictures, both taken with friends at church. The first one is Erich and some of his close Taiwanese brothers. The second is of Kelley and a girl whose English name is Carrie. Carrie became a Christian through ALPHA last year and is currently attending the same small Chinese group as Kelley.
Erich here – I just wanted to share a short excerpt from a Taiwanese friend who was recently baptized. I am currently discipling him in our Chinese cell group at Truth Church.
“I prayed to become a follower of Jesus. Instead of worry, I now experience peace; for I know God will provide the best way for his children. I used to be selfish, complacent, hypocritical, and irritable. By God’s amazing grace, I am becoming more polite, patient, and forgiving. Relationships are more important to me now than money and status. I Corinthians 10: 24 says: ‘Do not seek your own good, but the good of others.'”
I was deeply touched when reading about the amazing ways God has been transforming his character!
