Life Update

Dear Friends,

It’s been a while since we last posted, and we wanted to let you know what we have been up to in the recent past:

  • We’ve raised up and trained new cell group leaders to lead one of our 2 cell groups. As of last Monday they took over, and are doing great!
  • We ourselves are in the process of taking a 9-week class at Truth Church on “Cell Group Leader Training”. While we’ve been shepherding the community of foreigners at Truth Church for over 2 years now, we weren’t able to take this class before as it’s taught by one of our pastors in Chinese.
  • With all the new foreigners at Truth Church, we have been working hard on organizing a New Members Class for them in English, in order to provide a way for them to become Truth Church members.
  • We began a new quarter of Chinese studies in the beginning of March, and are enjoying our new teacher and classmates very much! The class focuses on reading Chinese news and magazine articles, and we feel like we are learning a lot!
  • As we have been very busy with the things above, we are taking a 3-day vacation to beautiful Hua Lian in Eastern Taiwan next weekend, which is the Taiwanese “Tomb Sweeping” festival. Read more about this traditional religious holiday by clicking here.
  • As we can take pictures and blog from our cell phones, we’ll try to update this blog with some vacation pictures on-site!

Thanks so much for your continued prayers for our life and ministry in Taipei – please also pray for more workers for the Harvest!

For His Glory,
  Erich and Kelley

Dear Friends,

Cell phones with built-in cameras are fast replacing regular digital cameras for taking everyday pictures, and we wanted to share with you some of our life through pictures we’ve shot on the go. Sorry about the grainy quality in some shots, but we think you still get the picture 😀

Enjoy!

Schindler Update 2011_03_03

March 3, 2011

Dear faithful supporters,

Greetings from Taipei! The past few weeks have brought an increasing busy schedule, but at the same time, many things which for which we praise the Lord. The beginning of February was spent doing various activities celebrating the Chinese New Year, the middle of February much time reviewing Chinese characters in anticipation of a new quarter of language studies, and the end of February a wonderful day outing with Christians and non-Christians promoting our upcoming Bilingual ALPHA Course.

How can you be praying for us?

  • Our next season of Bilingual ALPHA is scheduled to begin on April 8th, with the month of March full of meetings, trainings, etc. in preparation. But, at this time we are facing a lack of co-workers to form groups. Please pray for willing co-workers to step up so that the course can proceed as planned.
  • This week we began another quarter of language studies at the local university in Taipei. We’ve been blessed with another great teacher and look forward to expanding our language ability through our classes. Please pray for thorough understanding of the material and for opportunities to be a light among our classmates and teacher.

Let’s praise the Lord together!

  • For wonderful times celebrating the Chinese New Year during the month of February, not only with church friends, but also with our former landlady, Pearl, and friends from other places. We are so thankful for our “family” here.
  • For wonderful co-workers who are passionate about serving Jesus. We praise God for the team of believers we are privileged to serve alongside with here in Taiwan.

Our prayer is that each of you daily experience the joy and peace the Lord freely gives. We are so thankful for you!

For the Glory of God,
Erich and Kelley Schindler
