Dear Friends,

As you probably know, our English co-worker team at Truth Church maintains a ministry blog about the progress of our 3E ALPHA Ministry at this address: www.crossing7.com/taiwan.

We have just updated this blog with a notice about our new Fall 2010 ALPHA Course, which kicks off this Friday! Read all about it here…

Many thanks for upholding us in prayer!

A Weekend Retreat

Last Saturday morning we traveled by cars, subway, and bus to reach our weekend destination, a city called San Zhi, about 2 hours north of Taipei. The purpose of our trip was a weekend retreat for our English cell group to learn together about Taiwanese church culture, culture in general, differences between hot and cold climate cultures, and much, much more. In addition, we had several of our Taiwanese brothers and sisters join us, so we had specific time during our weekend set apart for them to share how they came out of Buddhist backgrounds into a life with Christ, how God has transformed their families, and how we, as foreigners, can better understand our Taiwanese friends. It was a refreshing weekend, and was especially good in deepening the unity of our group. We truly praise God for the co-workers, Western and Taiwanese alike, that He has blessed us with. It makes serving here a true joy!

2010 Fall Season Bilingual ALPHA Flyer Hot off the Press!

Dear Praying Friends,

The Fall season of our Bilingual ALPHA Course is kicking off on October 1st, and we wanted to show you the new flyer that some talented co-workers at church have created (see below). This kind of quality publication makes it easy for us to invite our non-believing friends to join ALPHA. Just this afternoon we were able to invite our old landlady and her friend to ALPHA – and they both said they would come!

Please continue to pray for the following important items concerning ALPHA:

  • We have 12 groups of co-workers signed up to host our new friends. Each group can accommodate 6-8 non-believing friends, so Lord willing we can begin the course with lots of new Seekers. This month of September is crucial for inviting new friends to join. Please pray for open hearts, and that many Taiwanese people sign up to learn English, make friends with Believers, and hear the good news of Jesus!
  • Please pray that each and every co-worker would ready themselves for the task ahead, so they can focus on the new non-believing friends in their groups throughout the entire 11-week course.
As always, thank you so much for your interest in our life and ministry, and your prayers on our behalf. We serve a God who loves to give good gifts to His children, and between all of our efforts, He will continue building His Kingdom in Taiwan!

Blessings,
Erich and Kelley

2010 Fall Season Bilingual ALPHA DM

Schindler Update 2010_09_07

September 7, 2010

 Dear faithful supporters,

Greetings from Taipei! As summer is coming to a close, we are reflecting on how quickly time passes by, and how we are called by God to make the most of each and every day. This summer has been full for us on many levels- learning, hospitality, serving, and trusting. With each changing season of the year, we remain ever grateful for the unchanging love and strength the Lord gives us and how He is the One who enables us to serve here.

How can you be praying for us?

  1. Upcoming weekend retreat– This coming Saturday and Sunday we will head about two hours north of Taipei for a weekend retreat of sharing, hearing testimonies, and learning together with our American, British, and Taiwanese brothers and sisters. Pray this weekend will bring more unity among us as co-workers, and be a refreshing time for all who attend.
  2. Bilingual Alpha Course- We are three weeks away from the kick-off to our Fall season Bilingual Alpha Course. We have enough co-workers to form twelve groups– so that is potential to reach over one hundred unsaved Taiwanese! Pray for open hearts to attend, and for God to do a mighty work in the hearts of those who come.
  3. Wisdom and guidance- As leaders over the foreigners at Truth Church we are daily in need of God’s wisdom and guidance as to how to integrate well and encourage the Taiwanese Church. Please pray for more ministry areas to open up, and for clear direction from God as we make decisions.

Let’s praise the Lord together!

  • Our increasing understanding and ability in the Chinese language is giving us more and more chances to talk with and get to know the Taiwanese people. Praise the Lord for His daily help in learning this difficult language!
  • We just spent a wonderful two weeks with Kelley’s parents. We are so thankful for parents who not only encourage and support us in what we do, but who are also willing to make the 24+ hour trip to come and see us!

Rejoice always! Pray without ceasing! In everything give thanks, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

For the Glory of God,
Erich and Kelley Schindler
