3E Ministry Blog Updated – ALPHA Week 5

Dear Friends,

As you probably know, our ministry team in Taiwan maintains a ministry blog about the progress of our 3E ALPHA Ministry at this address: www.crossing7.com/taiwan. Our good friend and co-worker Ellie has just updated this blog with the latest news on Week 5 of our current ALPHA Course at Truth Church, so check it out if you have the time.

Many thanks for upholding us in prayer!

Noodles and Fungus Tea

Hi Friends πŸ˜€

We just put the following pictures up for fun. The first is Erich eating his noodles with bean sprouts and green veggies, and the other speaks for itself. We didn’t buy any of the tea, but they added an extra 20% for free, so maybe we should go for it πŸ™‚

Hope all our friends spread around the world are doing well today,

Erich and Kelley

Revival is Coming

For the past few months we have been praying a lot for Revival in Taiwan. Although we have no idea when the Lord will pour out His Spirit upon Taiwan, we do see glimpses of Revival coming. Here are a few:

  • At a public, secular, Christmas program performed in the National Theater, we watched in amazement as the audience was led in singing “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing”, and “Joy to the World” (in English, but with Chinese subtitles), whose lyrics clearly proclaim the Gospel message.
If even non-believers are proclaiming God’s truth, then revival can not be so far off!
  • Our Chinese teacher, who is a devout Buddhist woman, recently told us a story of a Christian friend who felt compelled by our God to start a center to provide care for comatose patients. The friend had no money, but heard God telling him how to begin during his prayer time. This made a big impression on our teacher, who said she was “hao gan dong” (very moved or touched).
When Christians become known for the good they do in society, then we figure revival must be on its way!
  • Truth Church’s Sunday evening service is specifically geared toward the youth. Each week hundreds of Taiwanese youth, many of whom are not believers yet, come together to celebrate our Lord and pray for each other’s needs.
When the Gospel takes hold of the youth of a nation in this powerful way, then revival must be coming soon!
  • During our recent home assignment last November we visited a Taiwanese church in Chicago. There we learned of the church’s youth group going to the local mall each Friday night to pray for people. We were completely amazed to hear that the most fearless prayer warriors were a few teenage girls, who would walk up to complete strangers, and with a smile, offer to pray for them on the spot.
If more of our churches were led by the Spirit in this way, might not revival come to America as well?

Pastor Moses is right: Revival is coming! Please pray for more harvesters to join our ripe fields. If the Lord is leading you or someone you know to join us here in Taiwan, we would recommend you read through this website’s content, and also check out www.crossing7.com/taiwan, our recruitment website.

English Cell Group page becomes "English Zone"

As you can see on the left, our “English Cell Group” link has changed into “English Zone“. This is because we wanted to reflect the broader vision Pastor Moses has entrusted us with, for leading the community of Westerners at Truth Church. While we all fit comfortably into one small group at this point, we want to look forward to the growth the Lord will give us, along with its responsibilities: overseeing multiple English cell groups and multiple English ministries at Truth Church in the future.

Here is some updated content from the “English Zone” page:

In the recent months we have been blessed by a growing number of Western foreigners joining our fellowship at Truth Church. Some of these people are English teachers, others are students. But all of them share a love for the Taiwanese people, and a desire to reach them with the Love of Christ.

Adding to these people joining us who already live in Taipei, there are 6-10 people joining us from the US this summer. This means that our English cell group will probably need to separate into 2 or 3 groups to accommodate all the new people. Please be in prayer for us as we train new leaders to take care of these new people.

Because of this influx of new people under our leadership, we are also praying about new ministries to open besides 3E ALPHA. While the Lord is really blessing our ALPHA ministry, we realize that people have different gifts that they should exercise in the way He leads. Please be in prayer that we would hear from the Lord as to which new English ministries to consider.

Many thanks for lifting us up in this important ministry!

Schindler Update 2010_04_05

April 5, 2010

Dear faithful supporters,

“Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen!” Luke 24:5-6

At this time of year where we take extra time to focus on the death and resurrection of our Lord, it is our prayer that we all grow deeper in our understanding of His great love for us, and in turn show that same love to others.

We enjoyed a great Easter weekend here in Taiwan as we celebrated with Western and Taiwanese friends alike. We are daily thankful for the church family we have at Truth Church and for the opportunities to reach out into the community around us. We see the Lord at work in the lives of the Taiwanese people, and are praying for revival to come to this land!

Prayer Requests:

  • Our Chinese language studies continue to go well. We are seeing much progress in our ability to communicate and comprehend, but daily need prayer for understanding and good time management.
  • We have on average 40 Seekers attending our Bilingual Alpha Course on Friday nights at Truth. As the weeks go on the topics get deeper, so pray for open hearts and that each seeker may realize Jesus’ love for them.
  • Please pray for our monthly support need of $400 to be met.

  • A young Taiwanese girl (English name is Fabiana) came to church with us on Easter Sunday. We met her over a year ago during a Bible club at which we were teaching. She greatly desires to have a relationship with the Lord and grow in Him, but she is facing opposition from her family. But praise the Lord that she said the service really encouraged her, and she was very happy to meet many new Christian friends.
  • Praise the Lord for growing our Western team of co-workers! We are leading around 10 Western co-workers (American and British) at Truth Church. Praise the Lord for this team of people, and pray for continued unity as we build His Kingdom together in Taiwan!

As always, thank you for your continued prayers and support. Please remember to check our website for weekly updates and pictures of life and ministry here!

For the Glory of God,
Erich and Kelley Schindler
